Why don't the Russian just eat Putin. Are they stupid?

u/SirKorgor 5d ago

For the same reason Americans don’t eat their oligarchs. We can’t get close enough to them.

u/JakToTheReddit 5d ago

I'll eat them if yall will. The Dutch had it right.

52

u/Ok_Condition5837 5d ago

I'm not sure if I'll partake tbh. But I'm more than willing to cook them for you!

32

u/303Pickles 5d ago

I’ll bring the seasoning 😁 and vodka to marinate with!

18

u/Ok_Condition5837 5d ago

Now we've almost got a party!

u/JakToTheReddit 5d ago

I vote it's on the beach!

I smell a bonfire!

u/karatebullfightr 5d ago

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

There’s still plenty of meat on that oligarch!

Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato.

Baby! You’ve got a stew going!

u/Fickles1 5d ago

I bet some are extra fat too. Slow rotating over coals....

u/thelunk 5d ago

Humans are snackish, amirite?

3

u/Striking-Giraffe5922 5d ago

They lynched and ate the mayor didn’t they? A long time ago…….thankfully! Can’t remember which town though.

That was ages ago. Calvinism has rooted that out. It's the exact same reason I feel Dutch capitalism is way more dangerous than its American counterpart. Over here we have capitalism + vestiges of the church' teaching ingrained in people that tell everyone to act normal and stay quiet.

2

u/JakToTheReddit 5d ago

Brother, ugghhhhh. Big fan of the bikeways Microsoft Windows background landscapes you have tho.

2

u/[deleted] 4d ago

Haha thanks. Yes, despite this I still feel lucky to be able to live here. Could have been much, much, worse.

2

u/JakToTheReddit 4d ago

I even still feel that way of America despite leaving. A lot of people aren't even afforded that in their lifetimes. Definitely a lot to be thankful for despite all the bad!

1

u/Daier_Mune 4d ago

I'll skip on the head cheese (prions and all that), but I could go for a half-rack of ribs.

3

u/XxTreeFiddyxX 5d ago

The problem isn't the leader alone it's everyone that takes their money, makes their food, connect their calls. Everyone needs to treat these persons as persona non grata until they join you and atone. There are millions of us ans a few of them. Collectively squeeze the balls that keep the dick afloat and watch them crumble like fucking croutons. Find out who these are and punish them first

u/Bill-Maxwell 5d ago

It takes organization

I think we probably can and should. Some real-life Robin Hood’s would likely save us all from fighting one another over politics and nonsense.

1

u/Logtastic 5d ago

Project 2025 is out in the open. Individual One is walking free after conviction and another open and shut case for treason is openly being delayed. Moscow Mitch stroked out TWICE in public and is still in power.
Where is your Robin Hood?

1

u/Far-Explanation4621 5d ago

The word oligarch doesn’t really translate cleanly, and can really mean a number of things in English. I assumed the commenter I replied to, was referring to the limited number of US billionaires behind the scenes, pulling the strings. Sorry, I’m not sure what your comment is referring to?

2

u/crimsonpowder 5d ago

I only consume clean ingredients.

2

u/canadiansrsoft 5d ago

Sure we can, come to Aspen and DM me.

2

u/punksheets29 5d ago

We just gotta try harder. They go places and do stuff… let’s go say hi!

2

u/Crathsor 5d ago

Also part of us loves them. We crave leadership and they are willing to do that job we don't want to do. If we hated them as much as we claim, we are close enough to act. We don't hate them that much. We don't hate people who glorify them. We don't hate ourselves for supporting them. We do wish they would act how we want, the same as children wish that about their parents. But just like the children, it rarely goes further than that vague resentment.

2

u/graveviolet 4d ago

We haven't learnt independence yet, as a species. Autonomy, true interdependence, and the ability for self governance requires a great deal of internal psyche health and balance. We've got some work to do before we stop looking to leaders/pseudo parents.

2

u/PineTreeBanjo 5d ago

The one thing we always forget: There are way more of us than them.

3

u/TheRealDrSarcasmo 5d ago

Which is why they spend a lot of time playing us against each other.

2

u/nopersonality85 5d ago

We don’t even know where they live do we? They don’t exactly live near public transportation.

1

u/KenkaUsagi 5d ago

Not yet

1

u/1_pasta_1 5d ago

come on use the guns

-1

u/DessertScientist151 5d ago

Nah our Oligarchs feed us Twinkies and television and set up an underclass to make us feel superior. Much more tactfully dominance.

u/Call_Me_Skyy 5d ago

As much as I have against Russian society (and I will gladly admit that bias since my family survived Holodomor), they are not stupid. They are controlled. Russian History is a history of strongman types holding power whether inherited or taken. Russia is not an easy place to live and part of the control is keeping the population consumed with surviving. There is ALOT more to it obviously, but those are the two big reasons I would say keep men like Putin in power there.

31

u/anon9anon99 5d ago

Yea...and excessive mental health issues and alcoholism help keep the would be fighting man down

14

u/Call_Me_Skyy 5d ago

This is a whole tragedy in itself. Understandable post '45, but insane how bad it continued to be. Of course a societal rejection of "weakness" helps that poison along.

0

u/MalificViper 5d ago

Yea...and excessive mental health issues and alcoholism help keep the would be fighting man down

That excuse only works for the first 200 years.

When was the last time Russia was ruled by the people and not grifters.

0

u/anon9anon99 5d ago

You can say that about a whole lot of countries though, that come nowhere near to Russia

1

u/MalificViper 5d ago

But we are talking about Russia.

1

u/anon9anon99 5d ago

Yea I'm saying Russia has a unique degree of depression and alcoholism, even among states that have been perpetually ruled by the powerful minority

1

u/Call_Me_Skyy 4d ago

The life expectancy for men and women in russia has a 20 year gap almost exclusively due to alcoholism, working conditions, and self un-aliving tbf

2

u/SaerDeQuincy 5d ago

They are not controlled. They are just opportunistic before anything and anyone else. There is only one Russian I know that I could say I somewhat trust and he had to flee from there. Watch the movie "The fool" from 2014.

9

u/Call_Me_Skyy 5d ago

As most starving animals tend to be. If a person didnt take advantage by 1993 they have no opportunity now. I would say a nuclear power that doesnt have running sewage for 60% of its population is very much about control. My whole family still speaks russian and my MIL is pre-93 ukrainian. Very aware of their 7 words for "lying," but they are controlled. Some control can be self inflicted.

But a very good movie recommendation. Prefer the original myself

It really lends perspective to western countries and how much we've taken our freedoms for granted. I remember when Trump was in office and Europeans would comment on reddit regularly asking things like "Why do y'all tolerate this?" In America, the reason is an overwhelming majority of Americans are one missed paycheck away from being houseless. If we go on a general strike, we better pick a comfortable spot because that's where we'd be living for the foreseeable future. It sucks, but then we look at Russia.

They have it exponentially worse! Do we know how much of Russia's population is living primitively, or suffer through regular breakdowns of basic utilities like electricity, plumbing and sewage? They're so massive that there's no logistical, reasonable way they can all join together in solidarity against the government who is actively oppressing them so that they can't rise up. Even if they could, Putin is a scared, tiny little bitch that wouldn't get within a Kremlin-sized meeting table of any of his citizens for fear of his safety.

Sure, the west always seeks to improve their lives, and at times it feels impossible, but then we look at Russia and can lean back and remember "Well at least we aren't that bad!"

3

u/Call_Me_Skyy 5d ago

This is very very true. America is also relatively young. In the past (80+ years ago past) strongmen had tried and mostly failed here. Some that failed like Huey Long or Charles Lindbergh. Over time I think American culture has created some idols especially following the interwar period.

In America at least our strongmen are democratically elected. And we have corruption, but not to near the extremes of Russia. Our quality of life and access has still risen over time. Our debates are on if we're good enough not debates whether journalists and war bloggers should be put in Sturm Z squads and charged at positions.

Also your point about primitive living is very very valid the further a person gets from the three big cities. I have read something about statistics regarding water, electricity, heat, and cell/internet access, but I'm not sure where. I'll look for it and if I find it, I will link it in a separate reply

2

u/smergb 5d ago

Would you mind elaborating on the "7 words for lying"?

Is it that lying is so prolific they have separate words for different kinds of lies?

3

u/Call_Me_Skyy 5d ago

It's a bit of an overstated joke on my part lol 😅 there are four words for "lie" which have different meanings and two words for truth one of which isn't entirely truth. The joke is they are all lies in Russia anyways. But here is a little piece of reading that explains it without me having to text my mom

Why doesn’t Ross the larger friend, not simply eat the other friends?

1

u/Good-Ad-6806 5d ago

Is Ross stupid?

3

u/GraXXoR 5d ago

Stupid statement. Look at the US and people like Trump who get away with the most ridiculous shit. he even buried his ex wife Putin-style in a convenient plot on his own land.

2

u/Good-Ad-6806 5d ago

He should be served along side Putin in an international criminal court.

2

u/saintsfan92612 5d ago

not Dutch enough

2

u/Expendable_Red_Shirt 5d ago

Why does Ross, the largest friend, not simply eat the other friends?

1

u/Good-Ad-6806 5d ago

Mmmm good point

2

u/CamisaMalva 5d ago

Nah, they just know he will either mow them down with bullets en masse or have them committing suicide of five shots to the head.

Russia's entire population could revolt, but they need both the arms and training for it as well as accepting that not all of them will make it out alive or intact.

2

u/mces97 5d ago

Whenever I see someone post why people don't rise up against dictators, I always think of this clip. I'm sure those that would defend Putin and are close to him have a lot more of these

0

u/Good-Ad-6806 5d ago

Agree

/s

Edit: eat them all

2

u/Flatus_Diabolic 5d ago edited 5d ago

Because they believe that if they do, everyone in the country will be back where they were in the early 90s: queueing all day for a loaf of bread and hoping the power stays on so they don’t freeze to death at night.

Most of Russia (incorrectly) believes it was Putin that rescued them from that crisis last time around, and that that’s exactly what they’ll go back to without him.

They’re probably right about that last bit: if Russians decide to rise up and “eat” Putin then all the rest of the oligarchs will be on a private jet out the country to Switzerland with everyone’s money before you know it. Many of them have planes permanently on standby for exactly that scenario and have done for years. Look at how quickly the cockroaches scattered out of Moscow when Prigozhin had his little tantrum.

1

u/Good-Ad-6806 5d ago

Sounds good. Make them leave, and then Russia is free for the people who want Putin-less-ness. Win-win for the world.

1

u/Good-Ad-6806 5d ago

Edit: eat their escape planes too... one bite at a time.

Good point! It’s hard to know what’s up without someone with reliable reputation doing the reporting.

Who would want to eat Putin. He looks and acts like he's shit

1

u/CragedyJones 4d ago

Why don't the Russian just eat Putin. Are they stupid?

There is a lore reason.

0

u/czs5056 5d ago

There is too much toxicity in it.

0

u/DessertScientist151 5d ago

Yes always have been weak against dictators but strong against women and children. Also they are drunks and arrogant and Manic Depressive beyond all belief. Basically if you meet an well adjusted Russian they are living in another country for 20 years.
