So basically what your telling me is, i should tip the warriors?

Na tip the Bronx! If we get any type of favourite status we absolutely shit the bed

Look, the way the Wahs are playing it won't matter. We'll either get the team that beat Penrith or the team the conceded to Titans. I'm just glad Arthars is back.

u/griffshan New Zealand Warriors 4d ago
We also lost to the baby Bronx similar time last year. Although Reynolds played that one pretty sure

In bloody Napier. I don't think that helped, such a distraction

u/SamuraiKiwi I love my footy 3d ago
All those bloody pitch invaders. They should never get another game down there.
2
u/MoneyaLeague Auckland Warriors 3d ago
It wrecked the game, especially the momentum of the comeback

u/Weak-Increase4724 New Zealand Warriors 3d ago
I'm sick of this baby Bronx narrative... Reynolds, Staggs, Herbie, Mam, Riki and CapeWah were still playing. Hardly rookies.
Still I'm not super optimistic after last weekend.

u/griffshan New Zealand Warriors 3d ago
You’re telling me mate. We also had more players out than them in that game. About 7 blokes missing including Egan.
2
u/Dumbname25644 Brisbane Broncos 3d ago
Reynolds is not fit for duty until sometime around round 22. No Reynolds or Carrigan means not a lot of leadership. Broncos will be a mess on field. Wahs to win easy. I hope I am wrong.

It’s their comfort card , if they win it’s an amazing thing , if they lose well it’s the baby broncos

We also lost to the Titans so I don't think we can be too cocky even if we get the Shit Wahs

Did anyone actually believe they would backup 48hrs later in NZ?
19
u/TommyToyotama NSW Blues 4d ago
It’s absolutely cooked scheduling.
13
u/I_Like_Vitamins Brisbane Broncos 4d ago
Just another one of those zero travel glamour club games the Broncs enjoy all season, every year.

u/Own-Train-3881 4d ago
The Broncos get the best scheduling in the competition. They can take one for the team this round.

u/shotgunmoe South Sydney Rabbitohs 3d ago
Can't remember who's idea it was (pretty sure Thurston) but having origin just run mid year for 4 weeks along side the comp, players go into camp and don't come out with no backing up and injured/suspended players are just replaced is the best idea.

u/shaker8989 Gold Coast Titans 4d ago
Its too bad the turnaround was so small. Wednesdays game made it very clear that Walsh needs minutes in his legs.
15
u/SanctuFaerie South Queensland Crushers 4d ago
Have him go play a QCup game on Sunday, if that's what he needs.

Would have played Walsh to get his mind back into the game. His last two games have had be taken out by a chief, and play like ‘07 Billy slater. The one who threw the ball back into play during WC finals version

I understand it's best for the long run but our bench for the weekend is beyond cooked.
And as far as I'm aware we don't have any top 30 forwards we could even choose from instead. Everybody is injured, suspended or being rest except for Jaidyn Hunt, who I know nothing about his circumstances other than he hasn't played Qcup for almost a month.
I almost reckon Mozer comes onto the bench for Karapani and Smoothy just plays at lock

u/O_DoyleRulz Brisbane Broncos 4d ago
Turns out having 4 hookers in your top 30 is big dumb

I’m beginning to think Kevvie might not be the coaching genius no one thought he was.

We don’t have to pick top 30 forwards for this game, after Round 11 you can pick affiliated QLD Cup players. I’d love to see us give Josh Patston (second rower from Burleigh) who played well for us in the trials a run.
14
u/Malaxage918 Ipswich Jets 4d ago
I was pushing the Patston thing earlier in the season too when Kevvie wanted someone who could cover and injury to a back and kept picking Oates on the bench.
Given Patston has played centres before I thought he would be good cover like Capewell was for us
9
u/TomtheDon2K Brisbane Broncos 4d ago
We have nothing to lose playing Patston on the bench over Jetski in our full strength team IMO, we know what we’re gonna get with Jetski and it’s a low ceiling, I’d be shocked if Patston went worse than him. Could be a Hosking-like move
7
u/Malaxage918 Ipswich Jets 4d ago
While I'm not disagreeing with the Patston idea I'm firmly of the belief that Jetski has not been as bad as people are making out.
He hasn't lit up the world but I'd rather see his name on thr bench over Baker every single week
4
u/dtru2005 Brisbane Broncos 4d ago
For sure. Baker has been bottom tier below what Goswieski, Taupau and Hunt have provided this year
2
u/I_Like_Vitamins Brisbane Broncos 4d ago
Jetski looks like he's just going through the motions out there. Hunt deserves his spot on the basis of effort alone.

It’s criminal we’ve only had Walsh play his old club just the once

We fell for this trick last time, if you think we'll fall for it again then...honestly it would be entirely unsurprising if we fall for it again.

u/theflyingkiwi00 Melbourne Storm 4d ago
Without trying to sound like I'm putting the boot into SJ the wahs have looked much better with TMM and CHT in the halves this season
10
u/Polyporum New Zealand Warriors 🏳️🌈 4d ago
Yeah it's a funny one. SJ and Metcalf together are good. CHT and TMM together are good. SJ and TMM together are not good
7
u/theflyingkiwi00 Melbourne Storm 4d ago
They're too similar and can't take a back step to each other I think. CHT and Metcalf are the perfect foils
3
u/Polyporum New Zealand Warriors 🏳️🌈 4d ago
I like CHT because he's a left foot kicker. And Metcalf has some speed that we don't have much of.
But yeah, SJ and TMM don't gel
7
u/TheCuzzyRogue Auckland Warriors 4d ago
The sad part is TMM is the five eight that young SJ wished he had.

u/I_Like_Vitamins Brisbane Broncos 4d ago
I've got no problem with this. It was a very physical game. One of Kevvie's weaknesses as a coach has been his aversion to resting players.
Walsh also looked unusually timid. Getting back into regular footy after the big coward shot he suffered is one thing; being thrown right into Origin is another. I hope Billy has a good chat with him about getting things right.
6
u/FigFew2001 Penrith Panthers 4d ago
Maybe they beat the Warriors anyway, but I feel like the Broncos can't really afford the luxury of resting players right now
17
u/Malaxage918 Ipswich Jets 4d ago
48 hour turn around and it's in NZ. Was always going to be a small chance they played just due to that alone
2
u/FigFew2001 Penrith Panthers 4d ago
You're right. I just feel like they can't afford to lose to many more games
1
u/ImpressionFeisty8359 Brisbane Broncos 3d ago
Our season is in the balance but we were always resting them.
4
u/ImpressionFeisty8359 Brisbane Broncos 3d ago
That is fine they busted their arses off last night. Rough for them to back up in a few days. We have to perform a miracle, the WAHS won't play like shit again. They will come out firing.
4
u/CapitaoAE Gold Coast Titans 4d ago
After the loss this weekend it's time to buy Broncos futures. They're not missing finals and at full strength they're still the 2 seed.
Warriors gonna bounce back hard in NZ though probably. If not it really is over for them with no Reynolds, Haas, Carrigan, Walsh and Riki.

Titans got SIXTY on the warriors, so Broncs wont be too concerned
1
u/Dumbname25644 Brisbane Broncos 3d ago
Titans also recently beat Broncos. Broncos have not won a game since round 11. Broncos are in the middle of a losing streak which is common for origin period. Warriors win incoming.
