Cam Murray said the hit off the ball looked much worse than it was. He didn't feel it was direct contact, and it was just footy.
Seems everyone claiming Rikki should have been sentenced to death can calm down.
5
u/kipperlenko South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
Right, so it's ok to wack a guy off the ball, so long as it isn't high?
2
0
u/tehLife Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
You act like there wasn’t another Souths player close to Murray that ended up receiving the ball, there was a chance Murray was going to get the ball, Riki just misread the play.
It’s why he was sin binned, the contact wasn’t dangerous. Murray said it it wasn’t head contact, the ref and the bunker thought the same thing, whole thing has been way overblown
2
u/Aussie18-1998 Parramatta Eels 16d ago
The contact was dangerous because he was off the ball. But you are right, there's another player with the ball basically next to him. It's a stupid read. It wasn't high, so a sinbin is sufficient.
2
u/Aussie18-1998 Parramatta Eels 16d ago
No. The sin bin was more than appropriate, but it wasn't dangerous contact to the head. People claiming if they were serious after origin he should have been sent off.
11
u/lovesadonut Parramatta Eels 16d ago
Cam can be the nice fella all he wants and play it down... You can’t allow blokes to just steam roll players without the ball like that. Christ, Harry Grant got sent to the judiciary for an accidental love tap a few weeks ago ffs. Whether Rikki made contact with the head or not, that sort of impact is just as bad for the brain as direct contact cause it’s rattling about in there.
2
u/Aussie18-1998 Parramatta Eels 16d ago
Any contact will have the brain rattling around. It's rugby league.
The contact is dangerous but not directly at the head. It's a completely stupid misread that leads to a hit off the ball. Sinbin is more than sufficient.

u/briggles23 South Sydney Rabbitohs 🏳️🌈 16d ago
We aren't back just yet. Broncos really helped us by not completing any of their sets. If we can pull off another win against Manly next week leading into the bye, then all of a sudden we'll be officially back in the hunt and looking to shake things up in the race to the top 8.
1
u/Somethink2000 South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
How many have Manly got out? Cherry Evans, Turbo, Jake.....any other big outs?
No Trello, Cam for us and looks like Jai injured.

And other Bronx fans are just completely dead inside
1
u/boenwip South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
With AJ saying he hopes Latrell doesn’t play for the blues - would Latrell commit to the Rabbitohs season by deferring his selection?
20
u/Mrsmorale South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
I dunno but it shows how much his teammates value him alongside them… despite what the media says, every player interview or podcast you hear, his teammates are massively on board with Latrell.
25
u/Aussie18-1998 Parramatta Eels 16d ago
16 errors, 6 penalties, 4 six agains. That's some pretty piss poor discipline.
13
u/piraja0 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
atleast we managed to fool the nsw camp got em thinking Trell would be good for origin
5
u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 16d ago
Honestly, the opening 10 minutes, the Broncos seemed fierce. That try saver from Riki was amazing. I really think Madden kicking on the first after that six again is what fucked you, Souths got a penalty of the next play, and then their first try.
When Mariner is the stand-up from your backline, that still includes Staggs and Cobbo, something is wrong. I feel like a lot of the Broncos young stars got ahead of themselves and I really think Kevy Walters should have reigned in their egos more. They've all regressed this year! What happened to Mam? I rated him above Walsh! But honestly, he's been so disappointing this season.
The Riki hit looked bad, which is a shame because I think Riki is a pretty hard worker and has a lot of talent. Why has Carrigan slowed down so much and lost his intensity?
I know there were logistic issues for the Broncos yesterday, they were over an hour late to the signing they had organised at their hotel. Things like these do take a bit of a toll on your preparation, but they were so flat.
31
u/Uncertain_Philosophy Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
Honestly, the biggest miracle out of the last few weeks is that broncos only lost both games by 10.
Should have been more. Looked incredibly ordinary.

u/call_of_the_while New Zealand Warriors 16d ago edited 16d ago
Getting back on the horse he says. What? It was a great pun from Wighton. Lol. I don’t know if it was intentional though. But still it was good.
12
u/Brunch_Hopkins South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
I don’t think Cody will get picked for Origin I thought Luai was good enough in game 1 to retain his spot, but fuck meee if I was Madge and I was picking Moses I’d be tempted. That combo was so good last year
4
u/Mrsmorale South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
Luai plays his best footy at 7, he’d pair well with burto at 6
Or Moses 7 and Cody 6
Just depends on the type of game plan Madge is going for
7
u/rileys_01 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
I hate to say it but I don't think Luai has played better than he has of late. I been very critical of him in the past but think he'd be hard done by to get dropped.
13 on 13 and I think we would have been in trouble.
5
10
u/THR South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
Cody doesn’t deserve it. One game shouldn’t pick you. He’s been absent for 12 months.
2
u/Mrsmorale South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
Cody was one of our best last season, and the last 3 wins he plays a pivotal role. Yes he had a shocking start to this season but other than that your eyes are painted on.
3
u/THR South Sydney Rabbitohs 16d ago
He was decent at the beginning but not the most significant factor in our being top of the ladder. I don’t think he played well for significant parts of the remainder of the season and certainly not the start of this.
I want him to perform well and would love to see him back in origin but just have to be honest that a few games doesn’t justify that decision.
11
u/PLEASE_DONT_PM Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
Real shame in the draw is that Broncos don't play the Tigers again to have a real spoon bowl
4
u/InflatableRaft Wests Tigers 16d ago
Oh please. You just want to play us again to get another free 2 points

Thought that last try needed further inspection. Seemed like separation when he actually put the ball down.

I'd rather look at Riki on Arrow in the background

Mam the only reason we were in the GF definitely not him that night. But yeah awful tonight for sure
1
u/thicky_bobby Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 16d ago
I was more speaking as him being an example of the team in general, not specifically him in the grand final
16
u/paradoxer99 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
How dare a 21 year old not be the complete package
-5
u/thicky_bobby Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 16d ago
It's his 3rd season though is it not? It's a game where 30 is considered ancient
3
6
u/paradoxer99 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
Every single person in the game says the best halves don't really hit their straps in proper until 27/28
Mam only became a regular last year, he was fighting with Gamble for the 6 the year before.
-5
u/thicky_bobby Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 16d ago
I'm not saying he's peaked or he should be error free but it's not unreasonable to expect him to have a little more composure this year after what went wrong last year. His age shouldn't be a factor in that regard
24
u/CoryInDaHouz Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
Genuinely the most upset I've been since we won the spoon, fucking embarrassment to the city. Dolphins own Brisbane until we prove otherwise.
2
u/Ok_Strength_2534 16d ago
Also boys stop the short line kicks they're killing us in out present form
1
u/paradoxer99 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
I love seeing the Phins do well but they've had a soft draw so far, and only beaten one top 8 team. Still a quality side but do not own the city yet
5
u/CoryInDaHouz Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
They don't control the draw they're given, they've shown much better mentality and guts than we have.
-3
u/Minafatdog12 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
I fucking hate this. Now Kevvie will be like well boys we just lost. Get them next time. Fuck sake I’m done with this useless as shit team. Id rather get smashed so we can maybe have a good hard look at ourselves and drop the dead weight rather than suck off each player for “trying”. Jock I hate you. JetSki you too. Riki I’m starting to also hate you. Walters you’re on that list. Staggs is starting to be useless too
10
u/Realistic_Chest_3934 NSW Blues 16d ago
Staggs was one of your best though?
1
u/Minafatdog12 Brisbane Broncos 16d ago
Laughable. They all sucked besides big Willy and carrigan which happens every week. Haas has been mediocre a lot this year too

Latrell on the other hand will be punished severely for the crime of protecting his team mate

Y’all going @ Riki for that incidental contact on Arrow is funny as hell. Two dudes running side by side for the ball on the try line, if you get rekt you get rekt

Or you could have better discipline and not cause a dudes shoulder to come out of it’s socket

His big year should have been 2020. When he was 17?

Yes. That would have been the year people started saying "have you heard of this Deine Mariner kid. He's got something." Which is exactly what people are referring to when they say Mariner "popped up out of nowhere"

The run of play has been closer to a 40 point loss. Eg we played better when the Roosters did score 40.
