Discussion What are some of the policies that Biden is promising for his 2nd term?

Post image

I have way too many family members who are undecided or think “at least Trump is coherent.” But my line for them has been that Biden has great advisors/executives working in his administration, and the IRA and recent nuclear deal were awesome accomplishments of his administration.

I think I can sway them if I can talk about future policies that he’ll pass. What are some of the big landmark laws he’s promising? Instead of just fear mongering Trump, which isn’t doing much for them, what are some of the goods I can say his staff will be promoting that will make things BETTER?

Discussion Project 2025’s planned ban on pornography needs to be front and center in this election

Thumbnail meidasnews.com

Obviously it’s something that would likely be handled by PACs and not put out as a policy point but Trump’s base overlaps significantly with the huge proportion of Americans who regularly consume porn. I don’t know why every porn site, every porn sub, every sex shop isn’t posting front and center that a vote for Trump is a vote to ban porn but these are the kinds of seemingly silly things that actually matter tremendously in elections… if a Trump election would endanger something that men (and women) incorporate—no matter how surreptitiously—into their daily lives, that severely weakens his appeal.

just the convicted felon ex-potus GOP nominee who is under federal indictment lowkey signaling/threatening SCOTUS the eve before they rule if he has total immunity from criminal prosecution for stealing NatSec and attempting to steal an election...

this is fine.

y'all notice how he suddenly calls it "strong immunity" not "complete and total immunity" like always? won't that be peculiar if we see that para/phrasing idea again? 🤔

It should be a STRONG IMMUNITY, where proper decisions can be made...

It is a BIG decision, an important decision, a decision which can affect the Success or Failure of our Country for decades...

STRONG PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY IS A MUST!

Opinion Biden should aggressively hit the interview circuit this week

Thumbnail

Joe Biden is finally the hot topic and focal point of this election (for all the wrong reasons, but still). All eyes on him and any interview he does would finally get significant media attention (for all the wrong reasons).

Ratings would rocket for anything he did this week; so his team should pounce. Rachel Maddow? Jon Stewart? Turn this into an opportunity.

And, with all sincerity, if his team thinks he CAN'T handle an interview gauntlet (broken up by a midweek Holiday), then they need to be honest with themselves and the rest of the party.

Supreme Court Our urgently needed focus

Post image
84 Upvotes

We must normalize the idea of expanding the Supreme Court as soon as possible. This is one of the few effective remedies to counter recent devastating decisions, including Dobbs, the criminalization of homelessness, the legalization of bribery, and the erosion of deference to regulatory expertise in government. Such a remedy will likely only be possible after November's election and January's inauguration, and it requires a decisive victory for progressive candidates. Therefore, I urge you: if you're able to volunteer and haven't already, please do so.

Every elected office is crucial, not just at the federal level. School boards, sheriff's departments, clerks, judges, town councils, mayors, state legislators, auditors, comptrollers - we must clear all of these positions of regressive elements to the best of our ability. However, to effectively counter this harmful Supreme Court, we undoubtedly need a progressive Congress and White House.

We must make civic participation an essential part of American life. We must fight against apathy and cynicism.

We will not make excuses. We will not be intimidated. We will reclaim our country, one piece at a time.

Article The cynicism of the Supreme Court: Helping Trump kill the American experiment

Excerpt:

Friday’s most significant Supreme Court decisions, Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo andRelentless, Inc. v. Department of Commerce, fit within a guideline that explains the conservative majority’s recent spate of key decisions.. In a pair of opinions released on the penultimate day of the term, the majority made clear its intent to follow right-wing ideology — unless doing so would hinder their preferred candidate’s election, in which case ideology yields, at least temporarily.

In sum, the decision-making model looks like this:

1 An outcome that fulfills the right-wing justices’ conservative views AND seems unlikely to damage the election result they desire – Trump in ‘24! – leaves the majority justices free to be as ideological as their hearts desire.

2 But when an outcome that would fulfill their reactionary world-view bears too great a risk of harming their partisan choice in the election, ideology gives way to short-term political calculation . . . at least until the election is over.

“I don’t walk as easy as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to,” Biden admitted to supporters in unusually confessional remarks.

“But I know how to tell the truth. I know how to do this job,” he said to huge cheers, vowing “when you get knocked down, you get back up!”

NEVER count Joe Biden out.
