FAQ-:

Where can I get Minecraft Dungeons?

Minecraft Dungeons fully released on May 26th, 2020. It can be purchased on PC via the Minecraft launcher, the Microsoft store, Steam, or through the app store equivalents on Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch.

How much does Minecraft Dungeons cost?

Minecraft Dungeons has three editions. The "Standard" edition costs 19.99 USD, but the "Hero" edition, which comes with the first two DLCs, costs 29.99 USD. The "Ultimate" edition, however, grants access to all DLCs, costing 39.99 USD. The Standard edition is also part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Can I play Minecraft Dungeons with my friends?

You can play Minecraft Dungeons with up to three friends (four players total) either in local or online co-op play. Minecraft Dungeons supports cross-play between different platforms. This means if your friend(s) play on the same or on a different platform than you (i.e you both play on Xbox or one of you plays on a Playstation while the other plays on a Switch) then you will be able to join one another in-game.

Are there classes in Minecraft Dungeons?

Minecraft Dungeons doesn't have a traditional class-based structure. Instead, you will build your playstyle based on what items, enchants, armor, and weapons you use.

For example, if you want to play a defensive "heavy" type class, you'll likely want to pick up tough armor and wield defensive artifacts and traits. Someone who prefers using spells might prefer using lighter armor that reduces your cooldown speeds so you can use artifacts more frequently, instead of smashing things with a hammer or sword. You can also be an agile archer, focusing your abilities on your ranged weapon slot, which can include bows and crossbows.

On top of itemization, you can also enchant gear with special effects. One enchant might produce a chain lightning spell, which can also be upgraded through the game's leveling system.

There are many different types of enchantments for your melee weapon slot, your armor slot, as well as for your ranged weapon slot, and many amounts of unique artifacts that produce special abilities. Some examples include a horn that knocks back enemies around you, a firework rocket that you can shoot from your bow to cause explosions on impact, and an amulet capable of boosting your defense. All of those artifacts can be modified further with enchantments on weapons and armors.

Can you build in Minecraft Dungeons?

Minecraft Dungeons has no building mechanics at this time. Dungeons' focus is entirely on the RPG combat experience.

How does loot work in Minecraft Dungeons?

Loot is randomly generated in Dungeons, along with its maps. Chests can appear in various places, bosses can drop items, and light puzzles can appear to solve for additional loot, off the beaten path. Each item comes with a power level, which accumulates into a gear score for your character. Your overall power level is what's used to determine the quality of loot you can obtain.

Some of the weapons include swords, bows, crossbows, two-handed weapons like daggers, various quivers, pickaxes, fishing rods, corrupted beacons, etc.

Does Minecraft Dungeons have a story?

Minecraft Dungeons does have an overarching narrative that is canon to the Minecraft mythos, but it's very "light" and often more "environmental" in presentation similar to the original game, with the emphasis falling on co-operative fun instead.

The central antagonist is the Arch Illager, who is kidnapping innocent villagers and sacking towns, on a quest to take over the world. You're the hero who is supposed to end his dark reign. Beyond the overarching story, each level has a specific objective, which might be to defeat one of the game's new bosses or rescue a specific NPC.

The DLCs pick up where the main story leaves off, taking you to all sorts of areas. From jungles to mountains and temples, etc. All the way until you reach the End of your journey.

Does Minecraft Dungeons have an end game?

After you complete the main campaign, Minecraft Dungeons' difficulty tiers will unlock, giving access to more procedurally-generated dungeons with increasingly difficult enemies and traps, with even better loot. Mojang doesn't want Minecraft Dungeons' end game to feel too "grindy." There will be an incentive to do different activities the game has to offer.

There is a central camp where you decide which missions to undertake, trade with merchants, and perhaps explore some secrets and unlockable areas.

What mobs are there in Minecraft Dungeons?

Minecraft Dungeons includes most mobs that we know and loathe from the base game, including Creepers, Skeletons, Zombies, Spiders, and so on. Some mobs, like the Endermen, have taken on more of a "mini-boss" role, turning the screen fuzzy with psionic power when they show up.

Beyond the usual creatures, Minecraft Dungeons includes a range of new enemies to battle, including Necromancers which can summon the undead, and Wraiths which can set huge areas of the map on fire, forcing you to dodge and stay on your toes.

We asked Mojang if the Ender Dragon might show up, and they basically told us with a wink and a nudge "wait and see."
